One year, I attended a seminar that John Obidi delivered, where he shared his experience in getting to be in Mr. Olakunle Soriyan’s circle.
He said it took him years to establish the relationship he was looking for, with Olakunle Soriyan and shared in detail how he was able to do it.
Before that story, I’d only heard about Olakunle Soriyan, but I did not know much about him.
When John Obidi spoke of him, two things hit me.
First of all, John spoke so highly of him, and I know John. He barely talks like that about anybody.
Secondly, this man just happened to be who I needed to connect to, for my next phase of growth. He thought and spoke of things that I needed to hear at that point in time, but didn’t know.
Three things made that happen, and I taught about them extensively in my Vision Boarding Class last weekend:
- I understood my vision for my next phase and I already wrote down the kind of people I needed to connect to. They were all on my vision board. So when I heard about Olakunle Soriyan, I knew immediately that he was the one. I put up his on my vision board and everyday I would affirm “I am of value to Olakunle Soriyan” until it became my reality.
- I set my intention to connect with him by being a person of value. I knew better than to slide in his DMs and tell him “mentor me Sir”. At best, he’ll read and never reply. I signed up for his program Next365 which was a one day program that cost N100,000. It was nothing to me because I was on a mission.
- After I attended his event, I didn’t just take notes and go to sleep. I took action right there and then and got results, which I then took to his inbox to share with him; while offering to appreciate him even more by offering my services for free. Don’t ask me what they were. I did my research and found a way to help provide something I knew was useful for his company. I got a YES.
