It was Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, immediate past President of Liberia, that said and I quote, “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough”.
I have found that traveling helps expand my mind and helps me dare to dream very big dreams.
In 2014 when I went to Dubai for the first time, that was when I decided that I loved to travel too much to be broke.
I started my Interior Design company in 2015 and by 2016, we had been nominated for Company of the Year and we won.
In 2016 when I went to South Africa just to see a man on a stage who earns a million dollars per month, helping people live better lives, that was when I decided that I would quit my Interior Design job and help people live better lives. This began my journey and career in Thought Leadership.
In 2017 when I went to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for 15 days, that was when I decided that I wanted to take my message to the world, leverage International platforms and go global.
In 2018, I have spoken in 3 different Countries other than Nigeria, I have spoken on Social Media Week, Google Platforms and have been invited to a Facebook Community Leaders Roundtable twice.
In July of 2018 when I went to Kenya and Tanzania, that was when I decided to help a thousand OPENers become millionaires in 2019, and to host my first ever Breakthrough Experience Business Retreat at the time in no other place than Dubai.
We have already begun working towards the next retreat.
You see, in these instances I have shared with you, you see the beginning and the end result. A single post is not enough to tell you the planning, actions, opportunities, disappointments, failures, doubts, fear, courage and sheer determination to stick to the plan no matter what.
There were days when I questioned my sanity. There were days when a job offer from a multinational company seemed like a good idea. There were days where the word “QUIT” did its best to enter into my vocabulary….
But I have too much at stake to dream small and act small.
I tell myself that I am too loaded with purpose to be mediocre.
I have a world to change.
I may not be Bill Gates or Mark Zukerberg or Nikola Tesla or Albert Einstein, but I am Edirin Edewor and I carry with me an unrelenting desire to change that one person’s life, who will then go on to change the world.
It is my dream to see as many of you, dare to dream big dreams that scare you, and then take the courage to fulfill those dreams no matter what. Whether you do or not, is completely up to you.
So which would it be? Fear or Courage?
