DON’T GIVE UP YET!

The year was 2012.

The school was Uniben.

The faculty was Agriculture.

The Department was Fisheries.

The location was the Agric Lab.

The task was “digesting” soil and fish samples and extracting heavy metals from water.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be the leader of Africa’s largest online community for Writers, Authors and Entrepreneurs.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine then, that I would own a number of multi-million Naira businesses before I turned 30.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would stand in front of hundreds and thousands of people to speak.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be an International Bestselling Author.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would host international events.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would have such peace and happiness.

You see, I had just survived my second suicide attempt and I was still struggling to come out of depression by my final year in school.

I was barely making it through each day. All I focused on was my sanity and graduating from the university.

But here we are.

You don’t have to see the whole staircase before you take the first step.

You don’t have to know the entire journey before you run the first mile.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you take action.

What matters is your courage to do something with your life and then figure it out as you go.

You will read a lot of books. You will buy a lot of courses. You will attend a lot of classes and seminars. You will meet a lot of coaches and mentors.

You will think you finally found your purpose and then lose it again or find another one.

You will change jobs or businesses several times.

You will fail in a lot of things and succeed in some.

That’s okay. That’s called LIFE. There’s no hard and fast rule to it. The only rule that is constant is that change is inevitable.

Embrace this change and throw yourself into any path that comes your way.

With action, comes clarity. The more you move, the clearer your path becomes.

Don’t be paralyzed by the fear of what may or may not be. It is better to live a life of mistakes and failures than live a life of regret.

I don’t regret studying Fisheries. I don’t regret wearing those oversized lab coats for hours, inhaling chemicals. I don’t regret going through depression that almost cost me my life several times.

All of those things have made me who I am today.

One day too, you’ll look back on your life and like David in the bible, you will say it was good that these things happened.

Don’t give in yet.
