A little story: The Convener of Monetize Summit, John Obidi, has been my friend since 2017, and although we’ve been friends, I was never invited on any of his platforms to speak or teach until December 2019.
It’s not like he didn’t know I was competent or he didn’t trust my ability to deliver value; it was all down to timing and my being able to earn a seat at that table.
The right time came and I not only spoke at the Headstart Africa Career Mentoring program alongside the likes of Bishop Feb Idahosa, I also Co-planned the event with John Obidi and ran it single-handedly while he left for a trip to Enugu.
Why and how did I go from not being invited to even the Smart Business Tele seminars, to co-hosting and speaking at an event, and then becoming the Events Director for the two largest Virtual Events in Africa? It’s simple. I proved my worth in doing the things that have never been done before.
One of the things I did was aggressively build my influence in 2019. Trust me when I say that it doesn’t have to take you years to build influence. Once I figured that out, I was unstoppable.
To earn a seat at the table of influence, you have to show up with your own influence and there is a science to it.
